We’re thrilled to share that Mrs. Autumn Messier, one of our dedicated English teachers, has been featured in the Rhode Island Writing Project’s most recent email newsletter as their January Teacher Feature!


The RIWP highlighted Mrs. Messier for her outstanding educational contributions and participation in their New Teacher Camp. Even more exciting, she has joined the RIWP as their newest Board member!


Please join us in celebrating this well-deserved recognition for Mrs. Messier. We’re so proud to have such a passionate and talented educator on our team!

Fun Facts
- Autumn is a new cat-mom to two kittens named Betty Boo and Ivy. They were named to honor her favorite artist, Taylor Swift.
- She loves hiking and hopes to get the chance to visit every national park in her lifetime.
- Autumn has a younger brother who is in high school and a younger sister who is in middle school. She loves to learn from them to enhance her own presence in the classroom.
- In Autumn's free time, she loves going to the gym and trying out new fitness classes. Her favorites right now are spin and yoga.
- Autumn was a semi-finalist in the Fulbright Competition in the country of Bulgaria. This helped bring her desire to teach out of the country. She hopes to pursue other opportunities for international teaching in the future.

RIWP Background
- Autumn participated in the New Teacher Boot Camp over the summer, which has had a positive impact on her first-year teacher at Davies Career and Technical High School in Lincoln, RI.
- She was a part of the RIWP book club for the novel Accountable by ​Dashka Slater. This emphasized her push for culturally responsive teaching inside and outside the classroom.
- Autumn has continued her involvement in RIWP by attending ​the Fall Homecoming and participating in RIWP sessions ​on AI.
- Due to her passion for teaching and writing, she is ecstatic to join the RIWP Executive Board.
