At Davies Career & Technical High School, every student is a member of SkillsUSA—an organization dedicated to empowering students to become world-class workers, leaders, and responsible American citizens.
Just look at what’s possible: Ronella Dennis (Health Careers, Class of 2027), a Davies student and our Rhode Island SkillsUSA State Parliamentarian, just returned from the Washington Leadership Training Institute (WLTI) in Washington, D.C., where she brought the voice of Davies directly to our nation’s leaders!
Here’s what Ronella had to say about her experience:
"Hi Davies families! I'm Ronella, your Rhode Island SkillsUSA State Parliamentarian. I just returned from an incredible week at the Washington Leadership Training Institute in D.C.!
My mission was to advocate for Career and Technical Education funding directly on Capitol Hill. I met face-to-face with Senator Jack Reed and Representative Gabe Amo, as well as the legislative team for Senator Sheldon Whitehouse.
Beyond advocacy, visiting the National Museum of African American History and Culture as a Liberian-American was deeply moving. It completely redefined what leadership means to me—it’s about advocacy, connection, and honoring exactly where we come from.
I’m bringing all of this advanced training back to help our chapter members 'Level UP' this year. To our new families: SkillsUSA is here to empower your students to become career-ready leaders. Welcome to the Davies family!"
