On Tuesday, May 5th, the Davies Social Justice Club had the honor of hosting the Cape Verdean Museum for a powerful presentation. While we don't have photos of the event, the history shared by Mr. Hall spoke volumes about the deep roots of our local community.
"Did you know that Cape Verdeans were some of the most prolific whalers in history? The open seas were an unforgiving place that relied on all people to get the job done. At a time when racial lines were impossible to cross, Cape Verdeans were captaining ships from Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut around the globe."— Mr. Hall
Davies Social Justice Club would like to thank the Cape Verdean Museum for their time and insight. We are thrilled to have had the opportunity to learn about and celebrate such a proud and prominent heritage here in the Ocean State.
The museum is absolutely worthy of a visit from anyone looking to learn more about their own or their neighbor’s culture.
